One of the best ways to gain a more in-depth understanding of key issues facing the city is to attend a speaker series sponsored by the nonprofit group Agenda Alexandria. The group’s next session on Monday, November 25, will feature a panel on the city’s capital needs over the next decade and whether the city’s projected capital budget is affordable.
Speakers at the forum will be Nelsie L. Smith, the city’s budget director; Christopher R. Bever, another key city budget staffer; John J. Renner, the chair of the City Council-appointed Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee and chair of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce; and James E. Sanderson Jr., senior vice president of Davenport, LLC, a finance firm.
The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn, Eisenhower Metro Center, located at 2460 Eisenhower Ave. The program begins at 7:15 p.m. and costs $5 for nonmembers of the group. You can also purchase a buffet dinner that begins at 6:45 p.m.
