Funding Requests

Requests come in via standard form; form is sent to Board, Board reviews and then brings actionable requests to general membership

Jim Moran

1. Last day in office tomorrow, December 11, 2014.
2. Political career began over 40 years ago when moved to Del Ray on Oxford Avenue.
3. Launched a career in politics based on  civil rights issues
4. Del Ray was a redlined neighborhood – banks would not lend
5. Justice Department followed up on a letter to all 27 banks that refused home loans in Del Ray
6. 1979 Alexandria Election for City Council – wins seat
7. Most dramatic, satisfying and rewarding changes have occurred in Del Ray
8. A great place to live and raise kids

Scott Ogden – Alexandria Police Department

2. Crime is up 1.27% in Del Ray; large uptick
3. Larceny offenses are up – drive up stats; 20 larceny since last meeting
   1. 10 cases were misdemeanors – unlocked cars
   2. 3 cases at GW Middle School (Iphones/Ipads)
   3. 6 shoplifting cases (CVS/Walgreens)
   4. 1 package theft
   5. Citywide -0.6%; robberies/burglaries up citywide

Land Use Update – Lisa Quandt

1. 3 cases – all residential
   1. 2500 Sanford St.; Vacation; purchase property from city for additional landscaping; Committee in Support
   2. 29 E. Howell; one story; adding second floor; over setback; Committee supports
   3. 310 E. Monroe Ave.; second floor addition; over setback; Committee supports

DRCA Events Calendar

1. Alexandria First Night – Mount Vernon Recreation Center 6-9PM
2. DRCA Chili Cook Off – February 21, 2015; Commonwealth Academy (gymnasium)
3. Del Ray Tree Lighting – Saturday, December 13, 2014 – Luminaries starting at 12PM; Lighting at 4:30; Tree Lighting at 6PM; Pick Up/Cleaning at 10PM.
4. Del Ray Artisans Holiday Market – next two weekends; Friday, Saturday and Sunday
