In the wake of the atrocities in Charlottesville, Va this past weekend, Del Ray would like the world to know that this type of rhetoric and hate speech has no place in our community. Recently, Del Ray was featured on the Voice of America for doing its part to ensure our community is one that welcomes all people.
The Voice America piece refers to the events where racist propaganda were placed on residents cars and posted in and around the Del Ray community. The flyers that were posted had the opposite effect of the intended purpose. Within a few days anti-hate flyers and signs were proudly displayed on local Del Ray businesses and homes promoting the inclusive beliefs of neighbors and business owners.
DRCA President, Rod Kuckro, along with Del Ray business owners and neighbors alike spoke to VOA News about the positive and enlightening response that came from that event. We are proud of the stance that our neighbors and business owners have taken to promote kindness, tolerance, and inclusion in our community.
