At its October 1 meeting, the Planning Commission approved the construction of two small, one-story commercial buildings to replace the Afghan Restaurant on Route 1 between Calvert and East Raymond avenues. The buildings are designed to accommodate between two and seven retail businesses. The developer agreed to pay a fee in lieu of undergrounding utility lines along Route 1. Thanks to the DRCA Land Use Committee for its analysis and recommendations on this project, which helped influence a much-improved building design.
