City to hold kickoff meeting on possible Del Ray historic preservation plan

The city’s Department of Planning and Zoning will host a kickoff meeting to discuss two upcoming projects in Del Ray, a nonbinding residential pattern book and a survey of the Art Deco and Streamline Moderne buildings, on Monday, March 24, at 7 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Ave.

The two projects are aimed at developing a possible Del Ray historic preservation plan.

The city agreed to develop the plan after the big turnout at the November 2012 DRCA-sponsored Del Ray Historic Preservation Conference, which highlighted the need to find ways to preserve Del Ray’s many Art Deco and Streamline Moderne buildings.
