Council to keep Warwick Village pool open

The City Council has at least tentatively agreed to keep the public swimming pool at Warwick Village open for another summer, City Councilman Justin Wilson told me.

In his budget for the current fiscal year, City Manager Rashad Young had proposed closing the pool. But a large number of people and organizations, including the DRCA, supported keeping it open, citing the lack of pool capacity in the city, and Council did not accept the manager’s proposal.

Wilson said that he expects the Council to eventually decide to provide the money needed for longer-term maintenance that would allow the pool to remain open indefinitely.
