Committee’s motion: The Del Ray Citizens Association (DRCA) does not support the proposed bonus height text amendment (BHTA) as it is not consistent with the Potomac West Small Area Plan (SAP) and the Mount Vernon Avenue Business Area Plan (MVABAP). The DRCA requests that the City defer the proposed text amendment until the fall to allow additional community engagement to occur. The DRCA requests additional clarity on how it applies to Del Ray and the net effect it would have on the current available affordable housing. If the city does not defer the BHTA, the DRCA requests the text amendment to be revised to exclude the MVABAP from the bonus height extension.
Amended motion: “The Del Ray Citizens Association (DRCA) opposes the proposed bonus height text amendment (BHTA) as it is not consistent with the Potomac West Small Area Plan (SAP) and the Mount Vernon Avenue Business Area Plan (MVABAP). The DRCA requests that the City reject the proposed text amendment or amend to specify that the MVABAP (or SAPs in general) govern height constraints within the boundaries of the SAP.”
